Yellow Saxophone
Description:
Yellow Saxophone was created using acrylic and charcoal. It symbolises one of the lifelines - one of the threads of hope - that helped me survive BIND (Benzodiazepine-Induced Neurological Dysfunction).
I first picked up a saxophone at age 10, inspired partly by The Blues Brothers and a childhood soundscape of blues and rock ’n’ roll. Even then, the saxophone struck me as almost more human than a voice - its sound raw, emotional, and alive.
There was something sculptural about it - like holding a work of art that breathes.
Years later, when I lived in France, playing sax became part of my weekly rhythm - rehearsing in dimly lit, soundproofed basement rooms, releasing raw feeling into the air before stepping out into the sunlit streets for a beer with the band.
This piece is a reflection of that time - of the deep gratitude I hold for music as an emotional outlet, for the soul-level sound of the saxophone, and for the desire to return to those moments; to live and experience them again.
